I would like to submit my application for the above position. I have enclosed my CV for your perusal giving my previous experience and shipping background.
I am Fellow Of Science in Mathematic, have BCS (ECDL) certificate in IT and hold Class ‘1’ Master Mariner Certificate (Unlimited) with coastal and deep-sea experience in senior capacity.
Presently, I have been working as a freelance marine pilot consultant, mainly investigating incident/accident in pilot waters, compiling fact reports; liaise between the concern parties and advice on avoidance of such occurrences with safety at paramount. In this role, I have experienced this profession from a different perspective with a wider view of contributory factors lead to incident/accident
I had been an authorised pilot for Aberdeen harbour, conducted over four hundred acts of pilotage in six months. I am well used to of embarking/disembarking the ships via pilot cutter in severe weather conditions.
I have eight years experience worked as an authorised pilot for Manchester Ship Canal. I have conducted nearly four thousand acts of pilotage and achieved ultimate experience in ship handling. I have practical knowledge of interaction, squat and blockage factor. I have good experience, working and manoeuvring ships with the help of tug(s) while maintaining communication with VTS, bridge team, tug(s) and other traffic.
I have commenced my sea career on Floating Academy (under tutelage of Extra Masters). Beside good academic base, I have learnt discipline, manners, sophistication, teamwork and commanding ability. These attributes lead to success in my career.
I believe my merchant navy, managerial, teaching, pilotage and consultancy experience and my voluntary work for the local community have added to my communication and interpersonal skills, essential for this post.
The qualification and expertise I have gained would make me an ideal candidate for this position. I will be more then happy to relocate locally if accepted as part of your team.
